Innovative energy technologies for CO2 capture and
storage The risk of global warming by greenhouse gases (GHG) is increasing. Technologies for mitigating GHG play significant roles for future stabilizing climate change. The goal of this project is to develop innovative technologies for CO2 capture and storage (CCS) by using biomass and coal. We enhance and integrate cross-disciplinary researches in the project to address the crucial gaps of R&D in CCS, such as - CO2 chemistry and physics, - key equipment development for CO2 capture and storage, - system modelling and optimisation of energy systems with CO2 capture and storage, - Thermophysical properties of CO2 mixtures and their impacts on the processes of capture and storage, - Integaration of CCS with advanced energy systems and renewbale energy resources. In the project, various individual topics, e.g. as shown above, can be selected for several individual projects for PhD theses. We are also integrate the PhD student projects with our on-going studies including both EU and national projects. This will enable students to work in a team. By multi-dimensional, integrated and joint international co-operation, this project will develop a robust and consistent approach to produce new knowledge and promote the excellence and quality of research in CCS. |
